Wentworth Woodhouse Camellia House Watercolour
I was commissioned by an Architect at Donald Insall Associates to produce a single watercolour image showing the proposed restoration of the Camellia House at Wentworth Woodhouse near Rotherham for planning and funding purposes.
I was asked to show the Camellia House's proposed use as a Tea Room complete with a landscape of hard paving and the restored fountain. I opted to show the windows open being that it was very much a fair weather view, and it allowed me to hint at the mature Camellias within the building. I love the individual panes of glass all seemingly reflecting slightly different angles and hence a variety of colours. Obviously the glass panes also allowing various elements of background colour to come through.
Thankyou to Donald Insall Associates for the opportunity to paint this beautiful building but also to learn about some of its history and the family story behind the mansion.
